Today's shrink visit was probably the first time I've ever left not feeling better. But, he did remind me of something really important: I have been through a lot.
I'm not making excuses: after all, we all must play the hand we are dealt. But over the last ten years, I've barely had a moment to let life gel, to make plans, stick with them, put down roots, and grow.
I can almost hear Mr. P's voice in the back of my head: I've had a rough life, too.
Not everything is about you, dear.
I didn't cry this time, which is strange. I can cry all day about Mr. P but ask me about my dead father and I won't shed a single tear.
